What is a Tentative Agreement

Once the two negotiating teams have reached a tentative agreement (TA) on all articles, the union team presents the full TA to the membership, explaining the changes and answering questions.

Then, the agreement is put to a ratification vote of the members in good standing. If the membership ratifies the TA, the State Legislature approves the funding needed to enact the agreement.

Ratification and funding are what typically happens, but there are other paths that bargaining sometimes takes.
