Negotiations 12/7/23 Update from Jimmie Wallace

Our chief spokesperson, Jeff Kasper gave his opening statement, stating the need for increased wages due to the rising cost of inflation, and the fact that supervisors are doing more work due to recruitment and retention not being effective. Recruitment and retention failing in part due to wages.

We discussed the ground rules for the negotiations. Arguing for the increased participation/listening ability for our members.

We began discussing having meetings twice per month with the goal of in person negotiations occurring one time per month, in Juneau, Fairbanks and Anchorage, and virtual meetings taking place one time a month also, more as needed.

We agreed to meeting on January 3-4 and January 17-18.
